Happy Birthday, Julia!

If you’ve read Julia’s profile at the Characters page, then you’ll notice it’s her birthday today. Happy birthday, Julia!

So what? I want to celebrate the birthday of one of my characters. I’m sure there are other people who do it with their own projects…

Since my sister let me borrow her tablet for a bit, I’ve decided to try something fun. One of my favorite anime is “Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai” (aka Haganai), and I’ve decided to do a trace. What I’ve did was took screenshots of Yozora from the OP sequence, and stitched the images together. I’ve then traced and colored it, and then added Julia’s face, hairstyle, and glasses.

You see, I’m not exactly skilled in using a tablet and Sai, or drawing for that matter. The lines, coloring and shading are quite rough. But this was worth trying. 😀 Hm… Mikazuki Julia? Though, it’s kind of hard imagining Julia being tomboyish, but she and Yozora certainly have similar hairstyles (and body :P).

I might do the same thing with the rest of the girls later, that is, if my sister won’t be using her tablet for a while (when will she resume character artworks?!).

Enjoy!

Here’s Tristina’s theme, with major improvements!

According to a commenter, one of the problems of this piece of music was that it lacked punch. So I tweaked the Drum FX machine and increased the volume of the low frequency. I also tweaked the audio compressor. I don’t know about you guys, but those edits sure made the beat visualizer on my Winamp more lively 🙂

Here’s a list of more changes:

  • Added synth piano line
  • Flam effects on drums
  • Changed the notation somewhat (noticeable in the intro)
  • Added more substance to the main guitar line
  • Changed drum pattern a bit
  • Added pitch bending to guitar (0:28 and 1:17)

I said it once, I’ll say it again; creating rock-ish type music is not my thing. I’ve only created it not only for the sake of the project, but to reflect her tough and tomboyish personality.

Comments and suggestions are welcome!
